About this qualification

SIT60322 is for “highly skilled senior managers” who “operate with significant autonomy and are responsible for making strategic business management decisions”.

Thirty-three units — fourteen core, nineteen elective. It is the largest elective allowance on this site, and the largest hospitality qualification overall.

Two of the core units come from the business package rather than hospitality: BSBFIN601 Manage organisational finances and BSBOPS601 Develop and implement business plans. That is the tell. Above the Diploma, the register stops treating this as a hospitality job and starts treating it as running a business.

The rest of the core covers recruiting, inducting and monitoring staff performance, managing physical assets, developing marketing strategies, preparing and monitoring budgets, legal risk and compliance, and establishing a work health and safety system rather than following one.

Frequently asked questions

Are there entry requirements?
No. The register records no entry requirements for SIT60322, despite its size and level.
How is it different from the Diploma?
SIT50422 runs a department. SIT60322 runs a business — it adds organisational finances, business planning, recruitment, marketing strategy, asset management and building a WHS system rather than implementing one.
Thirty-three units. Can I get credit for the Diploma?
Several core units are shared with SIT50422, so credit transfer is usually available. Ask the provider to map it before you enrol.
Why are two core units from the business package?
Because at this level the work is general management. The register borrows BSBFIN601 and BSBOPS601 rather than duplicating them in SIT.
Can I specialise?
Yes. Nineteen electives allow targeted skills in accommodation services, cookery, food and beverage and gaming — all four named on the register.
