About this qualification

UETDRRF004 covers rescue procedures from live low voltage apparatus — not overhead lines or underground cables. The register scopes it to transmission, distribution and rail work functions.

Look at the numbers. 32,064 enrolments in Queensland in 2025, delivered by 76 providers. That is the most concentrated demand-to-supply ratio anywhere on this site, and it is because the unit is a condition of electrical work rather than an optional extra.

It pairs with CPR. LV rescue is meaningless without the resuscitation that follows it, and the two are almost always held together and refreshed on the same cycle — commonly annually, though that is set by employers and regulators, not the register.

The register notes that applying these skills “may require a licence or registration to practise in the workplace subject to regulations for undertaking electrical work”. The unit is training; your electrical licence is separate.

Electrical Worker LV Rescue Transmission and Distribution Rail

Commonly held together

LV rescue and CPR are a pair — the rescue gets them out, the resuscitation keeps them alive. Most electrical workers refresh both together.

0Elective Electives

A single unit of competency. Assessment must occur in workplace operational situations where appropriate; where this is not appropriate, it must occur in simulated conditions involving realistic and authentic activities that replicate operational workplace conditions. Assessors must hold the credentials specified in the Standards for Registered Training Organisations current at the time of assessment.

The three elements of the unit.

Frequently asked questions

Does this cover overhead lines?
No. The register scopes it to live low voltage apparatus, explicitly excluding overhead lines and underground cables. Those have their own units.
Do I need CPR as well?
In practice yes, and almost everyone holds both. The rescue gets the person clear; the resuscitation is what happens next. Employers generally require both current.
How often do I refresh it?
The unit does not expire, but electrical employers and regulators commonly require annual refresher for LV rescue and CPR together. Check with your employer and your state regulator.
Does it licence me to do electrical work?
No. The register notes that applying these skills may require a licence or registration subject to regulations for undertaking electrical work. The licence is separate and comes from your state regulator.
Why so few providers?
76 nationally, against 32,064 Queensland enrolments alone. It needs live LV panel training equipment and appropriately credentialled assessors, which most providers do not have.
