About this qualification
RIISS00062 is the motorway and freeway version of the implementer add-on. Two units: running on-site operations, and implementing traffic management plans on motorways and freeways.
It stacks like the others. It assumes the base implementer capability from RIISS00060 or RIISS00055 and adds the highest road category on top.
Motorways are the most demanding temporary traffic management environment in the family — highest speeds, no easy detours, and the least tolerance for a badly set work zone.
139 providers, the smallest of the three implementer road categories but still broadly available.
Roles it maps to
Context described on the national register.

Frequently asked questions
- Do I need the high volume set first?
- The register does not require RIISS00061 before this one. Both stack on the base implementer set; check what your road authority expects.
- Can I do it on its own?
- Not sensibly. Without the base implementer units you would hold motorway plan implementation with no underlying traffic management capability.
- What makes motorways different?
- Speed, volume and the absence of easy alternatives. The register gives them their own unit rather than treating them as high volume roads.
- Who accepts it?
- Road authorities and principal contractors set acceptance. Ask by code.
- Is there a designer equivalent?
- Yes. RIISS00065 Traffic Management Designer Skill Set for Motorways and Freeways, delivered by 26 providers.
