About this qualification
UEE42725 covers high-level fault diagnosis and rectification, commissioning and maintenance on refrigeration and air conditioning systems — commercial food storage and preservation, air conditioning, air distribution.
This is one of the electrotechnology qualifications packaged by weighting points rather than a unit count. A total of 1350 points: 1170 from the core listed below, plus 180 from general electives.
It is a large qualification. Twenty-nine core units is not unusual for this part of the training system, and licensing for refrigerant handling sits outside it.
Roles it maps to

Frequently asked questions
- Why points instead of units?
- The electrotechnology package weights units by size. A big unit is worth more points than a small one, so the total is a measure of volume rather than a count.
- Does this cover refrigerant handling licensing?
- The units are there, but the licence itself is issued by the Australian Refrigeration Council, separately from the qualification.
