About this qualification

RII50326 is the current Diploma of Minerals Processing, released on 17 March 2026. The register describes “metal or coal processing facility managers who perform tasks involving a high level of autonomy and requiring the application of significant judgement in planning and determining the selection of equipment, roles and techniques for themselves and others”.

It replaced RII50315, and the register records the two as equivalent. The structure is unchanged: 16 units made up of 8 core and 8 electives, with the same elective rules. Four of the eight core units were recoded — two imported BSB units replaced with their current equivalents, and two RII units moved from their D release to their E release.

Three providers hold it, against seven that held RII50315. That is a small field, and worth knowing if availability matters to you.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from RII50315?
Same title, same size, same rules. Four of the eight core units were recoded: BSBCUS501 became BSBOPS505, BSBMGT516 became BSBSTR502, and RIIENV501D and RIIGOV501D moved to their E releases. The register records the two as equivalent.
I hold RII50315 — do I need this?
No. A qualification that has been issued stays issued, and the register records the two as equivalent.
Only three providers?
Yes, at the time of writing — down from seven holding the superseded version. Providers add current qualifications to scope at their own pace after a supersession.
Can I get RII50326 through RPL?
Often, yes, and plant managers usually have substantial evidence. Whether RPL is offered is decided by each provider.
What does it cost and how long does it take?
Both are set by each provider and are not published on the national register.
