About this qualification

BSB40320 is the qualification for going out on your own — or for starting something new inside somebody else's organisation. The register covers “individuals establishing or operating a business providing self-employment, as well as those establishing a new venture as part of a larger organisation”.

Only four core units, and they read like the first four things you have to get right: research and develop business plans, establish legal and risk management requirements, plan finances, and market the venture.

Six electives on top — the highest elective-to-core ratio of any BSB qualification in this directory. That is appropriate: the specifics of starting a landscaping business and starting a consultancy have very little in common, and the qualification leaves room for both.
