About this qualification

SIS30122 is the recreation-side Certificate III. The register describes people who “work with some independence and under limited supervision” using clearly defined plans and procedures — a genuine step up from the Certificate II.

Four specialisations are available, and none of them is compulsory. Take 5 units from Group A for Customer Service Officer, all 5 from Group B for Pool Lifeguard, all 5 from Group C for Swim Teacher, or the recreation officer grouping. You can also complete the qualification with no specialisation at all.

The structure is unusual: only 6 core units against 9 electives, drawn from a bank of 48. That is what makes the specialisations possible, and it means two holders of this qualification can have very little overlap beyond the core.

The core is the same safety and service floor as the Certificate II, plus BSBWHS308 on hazard identification and risk control.
