About this qualification
ICT20120 is described on the register as a pathways qualification providing “the foundation skills and knowledge to use basic applied digital technologies in varied contexts”, for people “developing the necessary digital and technology skills in preparation for work”.
Twelve units, six core. The core is deliberately broad: computer operating systems and hardware, application software packages, digital media technology packages, using digital technologies to communicate at work, sustainable work practices, and contributing to health and safety.
At least three electives must come from Group A, the digital and technology skills bank — which is where the cyber security units sit. BSBXCS301 Protect own personal online profile from cyber security threats and BSBXCS302 Identify and report online security threats are available here at Certificate II.
The register is honest about the level: routine tasks, limited practical skills, performed under direct supervision. It is a start, and it is designed as one.
Roles it maps to
ICT20120 prepares people for digitally-enabled work rather than for a named ICT occupation.
