About this qualification

CPP41419 is the qualification behind a real estate agent's licence in most states. The register describes professionals who “apply knowledge of real estate practice, legal agency and compliance requirements, ethical standards and consumer preferences”, across “residential and commercial property, including business broking, and stock and station transactions”.

Eighteen units, and only five are core — preparing for professional practice, ethical practice, legislation, marketing and communication profiles, and preparing to work with trust accounts. Thirteen electives sit on top, the widest elective allowance of any Certificate IV here.

That structure exists because real estate licensing differs by state, and the elective bank lets a provider package toward a particular jurisdiction's requirements. Which electives a provider delivers is therefore not a detail — it decides whether the qualification supports your licence application where you live.

CPPREP4005 Prepare to work with real estate trust accounts being core is worth noting. Trust account handling is where agents get into regulatory trouble, and the qualification treats it as foundational.

Frequently asked questions

Does this license me as a real estate agent?
No. Licensing is issued by each state and territory regulator, with its own requirements for units, experience and probity. This qualification is commonly the education component — but which of the thirteen electives you complete affects whether it satisfies your state. Check with your regulator before enrolling.
Why does the elective choice matter so much?
Because only five of eighteen units are core. State licensing bodies specify particular units for particular licence classes — agent, property manager, auctioneer, stock and station. A provider packaging for one state may not cover another.
Residential or commercial?
Both, plus business broking and stock and station transactions. The register names all of them. Again, the electives decide which.
Are there entry requirements?
No. The register records none for CPP41419.
What does it cost and how long does it take?
Both are set by each provider and are not published on the national register.
