About this qualification

CHC62015 is the management qualification for the community sector. The register describes “middle managers or managers across a range of community sector organisations” who “work independently and report to executive management, directors or boards of management”, with responsibility for “planning and monitoring service delivery, recruitment and performance management”.

It is the point where the ladder stops being about practice and starts being about running the organisation. Half the core comes from the Business Services package rather than Community Services — managing finances, leading organisational change, innovation and continuous improvement, and risk.

Worth knowing before you enrol: those four imported units carry codes from an earlier release of the Business Services package. That does not affect the qualification's currency — it is current on the register — but it is the kind of detail worth raising with a provider if you are also considering a BSB qualification alongside it.

137 providers hold it, the smallest field in the community services ladder by a wide margin.

Frequently asked questions

Why are half the core units BSB units?
Because at this level the job is management. Finances, organisational change, continuous improvement and risk are generic management competencies, so the qualification imports them from the Business Services package rather than duplicating them.
Should I do this or a Diploma of Leadership and Management?
CHC62015 is management inside a community sector organisation, with diversity, quality frameworks and legal and ethical compliance in the core. BSB50420 is general leadership across any industry, delivered by 1,125 providers against 137 here. Choose on whether you want the sector context.
Do I need the Diploma of Community Services first?
No. The register records no entry requirements for CHC62015, though it assumes management responsibility and providers may set their own conditions.
Can I get CHC62015 through RPL?
Often, yes, and sector managers usually have substantial evidence. Whether RPL is offered is decided by each provider.
What does it cost and how long does it take?
Both are set by each provider and are not published on the national register.
