About this qualification

Frequently asked questions
- What is the entry requirement?
- You must have completed FNS50222 Diploma of Accounting, or its superseded version FNS50217 Diploma of Accounting, or equivalent, before commencing.
- Does this make me a registered tax agent?
- No. The register names tax agents among the roles this qualification serves, but registration is granted by the Tax Practitioners Board against its own education and experience requirements. Check what the Board currently requires — it is not the same thing as holding this qualification.
- Only three core units?
- Yes. Corporate governance, economic principles and financial statistics are what everyone shares; the eleven electives carry the direction — tax, audit, management accounting, financial reporting.
- Is it equivalent to a degree?
- No. It is AQF Level 6; a bachelor degree is Level 7. Some universities grant credit toward an accounting degree — ask the university.
- Can I get in on experience alone?
- The register states the requirement as a completed qualification, not experience. A provider may assess equivalence, but there is no experience pathway written into the register.
