About this qualification
AHC31024 is the qualification for the people who keep public and sporting grounds working. The register describes “trade level roles in the parks and gardens industry including gardener, greenkeeper and groundsperson”.
Sixteen units, eleven core. Where the general horticulture qualification is broad, this one is specific about place: implementing a landscape maintenance program, implementing a grassed area maintenance program, operating pressurised irrigation, and specialist amenity pruning.
AHCTRF309 Implement a grassed area maintenance program is the unit that separates it from AHC30722 Horticulture. Turf is its own discipline, and greenkeeping is where this qualification points.
Thirty-three providers nationally — a small field for a trade that every council, golf club and sporting ground depends on.
