About this qualification

CUA51020 covers the same industries as the Certificate IV but shifts the emphasis. The core adds freelance services and realising a creative project — you are no longer only doing the task, you are carrying the job.

Same caution applies: four core units and well over a hundred electives, so the stream your provider runs decides what you come out with.

Fifteen units: four core, eleven elective.

Frequently asked questions

Why is freelancing a core unit?
Because most screen work is freelance. The register put the business side in the core rather than leaving it to chance.
Do I need the Certificate IV first?
Not as a rule. Providers set their own entry requirements and often take people straight in on the strength of a portfolio.
